Dale Norman “Bus” Watson


Dale Norman “Bus” Watson, 78, of Roseville, died at 6:50 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 29, 2009, at St. Mary’s Medical Center, Galesburg.
He was born May 20, 1931, in Monmouth, to Dale Smith and Evelyn (Peterson) Watson. He married Nancy Jane Scott and later married Shirley Thomas in January 1977. She survives.
He is also survived by one daughter, Deb (Bill) Rosenberg, Galesburg; four sons, Don (Denise) Thomas, Avon, Doug (Robin) Watson, Media, Daniel (Cindy) Thomas, N.C., and Brian (Darcy) Thomas, Champaign; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; one sister, Marilyn Bruch, Monmouth; and one niece and one nephew.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and one nephew.
He was born and raised in Roseville where he lived his entire life. He graduated from Roseville High School in 1949 and later graduated from Knox College. He served in the U.S. Army, and after his service returned to Roseville to work at the family business, Watson Seed and Sporting Goods Company. He later worked at the Roseville State Bank for several years before retiring.
He was a member of the Roseville Methodist Church. He served on the school board, village board, and was Roseville Township Supervisor for 15 years. He was also a member of the Roseville Masonic Lodge. He enjoyed his grandchildren, and children of the church.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 3, 2009, at Corman Memorial Home, Roseville.
Burial will be in Roseville.
Memorials may be made to the Roseville United Methodist Church and Roseville Friendship Center.
