Ronald G. Hampton
RUSHVILLE-Ronald G. Hampton, 67, Rushville, died Friday, Aug. 14, 2009, at 9:45 p.m. at the Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.
He was born April 4, 1942, in Lewistown, the son of Prentice G. and Elma J. (Akison) Hampton. He married Lita Anderson Aug. 15, 1964, in Vermont. She survives.
He is also survived by two sons, Mike (Sherrie) Hampton, Rushville, and Mark (Amy) Hampton, Table Grove; three grandchildren: Kyle, Megan, and Jeffery Hampton; one brother, Richard Hampton, Abingdon; and one sister Betty (Jim) Bohannon, Sullivan, Ind.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Hampton.
He farmed his entire life in the Vermont, Ill., area.
Ronald was a member of the Carroll Rankin American Legion Post #26 of Vermont and Schuyler County Farm Bureau.
He was an Army veteran, serving from 1963 until 1969.
Services were held Tuesday, Aug. 18, 2009, at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria with the Rev. Dixie Croxton officiating.
Military rites were conducted by Carroll Rankin American Legion Post.
Internment will be in the Vermont Cemetery at a later date.
