Joyce A. Harms

Joyce A. Harms, 66, of Sutter, died Monday, Aug. 31, 2009.

Joyce was born October 31, 1942, in Keokuk, Iowa, the daughter of Ervin and Ellett (Fletcher) Wemhaner.

Joyce is survived by her husband, Kenneth, Sutter; four children, Bryan (Amy) Harms, Quincy, Cynthia (Douglas) Beers, Mendon, Craig (Melanie) Harms, Bethalto, and Travis (Maggie) Harms, Cordova, Tenn.; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

She graduated from Warsaw High School in 1960.  On April 15, 1961, she was united in marriage to Kenneth Harms at Sutter Salem Bible Church. Joyce had worked part-time at the Hancock County Nursing Home in Carthage for ten years. She was an active member of Sutter Salem Bible Church and served as a Sunday school teacher and Vacation Bible School teacher. She loved working with children. She was an encouragement to many with her letters written to family and friends.  She enjoyed her family immensely. Sewing for her grandchildren was very special to her. She also enjoyed refinishing furniture.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 3, 2009, at Sutter Salem Bible Church, Sutter. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be held 3 - 8 p.m. Wednesday evening at Printy Funeral Home, Carthage, with family meeting friends from 6 - 8 p.m.

Memorials may be directed to St. Jude's Hospital for Children.
