Mary Eileen Toney


Mary Eileen Toney, 85, of Sherman, formerly of Macomb and Blandinsville, died at 1:15 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 10, 2009, at Villa Healthcare East, Sherman.
She was born July 25, 1924, in Burlington, Iowa, to Ward and Lola (Hainline) Brill. She married Dan B. Toney on Nov. 23, 1942, in Kahoka, Mo. He died April 18, 1985.
She was also preceded in death by her parents.
She was a housewife, but worked part-time at Woolworth and Wal-Mart as a greeter for several years. She received her associate’s degree from Spoon River College in 1982. She belonged to the Retired Sergeant's Association, Singing Seniors of Macomb and the Women's Auxiliary of the American Legion. She was a member of the Blandinsville Baptist Church.
She is survived by one son, Dan B. (Cindy) Toney Jr. of Avondale, Ariz.; two daughters, Carol (David) Hawks-Conner of Springfield and Cindy (Horst) Wagner of Avondale, Ariz.; ten grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren and one cousin, Bonnie (Bob) Shult of Macomb.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 13, 2009, at the Clugston-Tibbitts Funeral Home, Macomb, with the Rev. Dean Reeverts officiating.
Burial will be in Glade City Cemetery, Blandinsville.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to Blandinsville Baptist Church or the Everly House, Macomb.
