Robert E. "Bob" McSperritt


Robert E. "Bob" McSperritt, 81, of Macomb, died at 2:05 a.m. Monday, Sept. 21, 2009 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria, surrounded by his family.


He was born April 26, 1928 in Macomb, to John and

Rowena (Powell) McSperritt. He married Wanda Harding on June 22, 1949 in Macomb. She survives.

He is also survived by one daughter, Carol Miller of Macomb; two sons, Michael (Donna) McSperritt of Donnellson, and Steven McSperritt of Colchester; ten grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; three

brothers, Eldon of Macomb, Joe (Darlene) of Carthage and Donald (Marylin) of Adair and three sisters, Betty (Henry) Smith, Dorothy Walters and Linda Duncan all of Macomb.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, James, John and Bill McSperritt.

He lived all his life in Macomb where he worked for 30 years for the Macomb Fire Department retiring as a Captain in 1981. He was an Army veteran serving during World War II. He was a member of the Macomb VFW and was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing with Jr. and his retired friends at Gold Hills.

Graveside services were held Thursday, Sept. 24, 2009 at Oakwood Cemetery, Macomb with the Rev. Wally Holt officiating. Military Rites were conducted by the Macomb VFW.

Memorials may be made to r the Heart Fund or the Cancer Fund.

Clugston-Tibbitts Funeral Home in Macomb is in charge of arrangements.
