Margaret Ann Sorrells Worthington


Margaret Ann Sorrells Worthington, 78, of Macomb, formerly of Roseville, died at 2:29 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 26, 2009, at McDonough District Hospital in Macomb.

She was born on Sept. 18, 1931, just west of Bushnell, to Leonard and Elizabeth McCance Sorrells. She married Keith Worthington on Nov. 27, 1949, in Bushnell. He preceded her in death on May 27, 1998.

Also preceding her in death were her parents; one granddaughter, Kelli Nicole Worthington; one sister, Neva Van Velsor; and one brother, Ronald Sorrells.

She is survived by one daughter, Kathy Dennis of Davenport, Iowa; four sons, Stephen (Eileen) and Joseph, both of Good Hope, Tony (Ann), Davenport, Iowa and Timothy (Kim),  Dubuque, Iowa; 12 grandchildren, Stephen, Daniel and Michael Worthington, Tonya (Mark) Westerbeke, Matthew (Rachel) Worthington, Tricia (Brandon) Carlson, Thomas (Kristina) Thompson and Lane Thompson, Clint Worthington, Justin (Stephanie) Smith, Megan (Mitchell) Hines and Alexandria Worthington; four great-grandchildren, Grace Carlson, Ella and Mia Westerbeke and Tyson Worthington; and one brother, Duane (Millie) Sorrells.

She lived in the Roseville area for many years before moving to Macomb. She graduated from Prairie City High School in 1949, Spoon River College in Macomb with a LPN in 1977 and Carl Sandburg College in Galesburg with her RN in 1985.

She worked as a LPN at Lamoine Christian Nursing Home in Roseville from 1977-1979, was employed in Dr. Albert Petrone's office in Macomb from 1979 to 1983 and worked as a RN at McDonough District Hospital in Macomb from 1985 to 2000.

She was baptized at the Swan Creek Methodist Church in 1965 and was a member of the Maple Avenue Christian Church in Macomb.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 1, 2009, at the Clugston-Tibbitts Funeral Home in Macomb with Reverend Jim Oliver officiating.

Burial will be in the Oakwood Cemetery in Macomb.
