Mildred E. Crabill
Mildred E. Crabill, 103, of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, formerly of New London, Iowa, died Tuesday, Sept. 29, 2009 at Pleasant Manor Care Center, Mt. Pleasant, Iowa.
She was born May 19, 1906 near Dallas City, to Charles E. and Mary Myrtle (Garrett) Thompson. She married James H. Crabill on June 27, 1925 in Keokuk, Iowa. He preceded her in death June 25, 1973.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, one son, Jim Crabill, one daugher, Doris in infancy, two brothers, Bert and Glen Thompson and one grandson, Jeffrey Crabill.
She is survived by two daughters, Donna Smith of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa and Joan (Bill) Mathers of New London, Iowa; four sons, John (Marilyn) Crabill of Lomax, Kenneth (Joann) Crabill of Bonaparte, Iowa, Dean (Marvel) Crabill of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa and Don (Carol) Crabill of Redbud; one daughter-in-law, Jan Crabill of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa; 18 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was a homemaker and a caregiver and babysitter to many. She enjoyed embroidery, dominoes, flowers, family get-togethers and was a champion in spelling bees. She was a 1924 graduate of Colusa High School.
Graveside services were held Saturday, Oct. 3, 2009 at LaHarpe Cemetery, with Pastor Adam Ross officiating.
Memorials may be made to the New London Christian Church and the Pleasant Manor activity fund.
