Darlene M. Brooks


Darlene M. Brooks, 74, of Sioux City, Iowa, passed away on Monday, September 28, 2009 at her home after a long battle with cancer.
She was born June 16, 1935, in Niabrara, Nebraska to Edward and Mildred (Malcom) Divis.  She moved to Sioux City as a child.  She lived in Minneapolis and returned to Sioux City. 
She married Tony Trudell, he preceded her in death. She later married Dean Brooks on July 6, 1963, he preceded her in death in 1988. 
She was also preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Richard and Alonzo Divis; and a sister, Edna.
She is survived by one brother, Duane Divis of Sioux City; and one sister, Lucille Malcom of Sioux City; also many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great great nieces and nephews.
She drove a truck with her husband Dean for several years. They owned and operated their own trucks. After she returned to Sioux City she worked at the Wal-Mart in South Sioux City until her retirement in 2004 due to poor health. 
She loved collecting dishes and crystal.  She enjoyed crocheting clothing for stuffed bears, but loved spending time with her family most.
 Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 10, 2009 at McKay Cemetery near Burnside. 
Printy Funeral Home, of Carthage, is in charge of local arrangements.
