Maudie Pansy Johnson
Maudie Pansy Johnson, age 94, of 906 North Main Street, Abingdon, Illinois, passed away at 4:09 a.m. Friday, April 9, 1999 in the emergency room of Cottage Hospital.
She was born May 21, 1904 in RR Smithfield, Illinois, Fulton County, the daughter of Frank and Martha Baughman Postin. She married Lessie Lee Johnson on February 2,1924 at Lewistown, Illinois. He preceded her in death on May 31, 1958.
Survivors include seven sons, Frank Johnson, Greenbush, Carl Johnson, Roseville, Emil Johnson Sr., St. Augustine, Lloyd Johnson, Gladstone, Wayne Johnson, state of Oregon, Jim and Ronald Johnson, both of Avon; five daughters, Darlene Rice, Carol Ashby and Maudie Riley, all of Abingdon, Dolly VanSkike, Stevens Point, Wisconsin and Florence Sanders, Aledo; 58 grandchildren; several great grandchildren, several great-great grandchildren and several great-great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three sons, Les, Thomas and Robert, five sisters and three brothers.
She had lived in the Abingdon area most of her life.
She was a homemaker and a member of the United Pentecostal Church, Abingdon.
Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the United Pentecostal Church with Rev. Danny Hunt officiating.
Burial was in the Abingdon Cemetery.
Hinchliff-Pearson-West Chapel, Abingdon, was in charge of the arrangements.
