Billy Ritchie, age 78, of 126 South Farnham Street, Galesburg, Illinois, passed away at 1:50 a.m. Wednesday, January 5, 2000, at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

Born September 28, 1921, in Gilchrist to Elmer Albert and Dora Fulton Ritchie, he married Dorothy I. McNaught on February 21, 1943, in Kahoka, MO. She survives.

Also surviving are one son, Dennis of Las Vegas; one daughter, Doreen Johnson, of Wendover, Nevada.; one sister, Bertha Carr of Abingdon; and two grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one brother and three sisters.

He was a heavy equipment truck driver for the Burlington Northern Railroad for 40 years, retiring September 28, 1982.

He was an umpire for the Junior Hardball League for 20 years.

He was a village trustee in East Galesburg for 17 years. He also was the police magistrate of East Galesburg for four years.

Services were held Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel with Rev. Milton Marquith officiating.

Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery.
