Lawrence R. Flanagan

Lawrence R. “Larry’’ Flanagan, age 60, of 512 North Sage Street, Oneida, passed away at 10:42 p.m. Sunday, January 2, 2000, in OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria.

He was born June 13, 1939, in Chester, S. D., the son of William and Irene Luken Flanagan.

He married Rebecca “Becky’’ Tabb on February 17, 1962, in Phoenix, Arizona.

Surviving are his wife; two daughters, Lisa Smith, Oneida, and Kimberly Hedegaard, Byron; one brother, William Flanagan, Phoenix, Arizona; three sisters, Faylor Muchow and Ruth Connelly, both of Sioux Falls, S.D., and Theresa Batie, Phoenix, and six grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one brother and two sisters.

He was reared and educated in the Chester and Phoenix areas.

He served in the Air Force and the Air Force Reserve.

He worked at the former Gale Products Division of Outboard Marine Corp. in Galesburg for 10 years; for Sampson Implement Company in Oneida and Galesburg for 10 years, and for Neff Company in Avon for the past 15 years.

He was a member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church, Wataga.

He served as an Oneida alderman and was a member of the Oneida Fire Department. He was a charter member of the Oneida Jaycees, and was a former member of the Oneida Lions Club. He was a member of Lake Calhoun Country Club, and served on its board and as vice president.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Thursday in St. Aloysius Catholic Church, with the Revs. Michael Menner and Michael VanAcker officiating.

Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Home, Oneida was in charge of the arrangements.

Burial was in Oneida Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to his family.
