Leah Catherine Paxton
Leah Catherine Paxton, 89, formerly of Macomb, died at 8:14 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 2, at Windcrest Alzheimers Center in Abilene, Texas. She was born Oct. 2, 1910, in St. Mary to Luther and Annie (Simmons) Jackson. She married Charles E. Paxton April 18, 1950 in Clovis N.M. He died in 1962. She is survived by a sister, Elizabeth Mae Zeman of Champlin, Minn. and two nieces, Susan Leah Jackson-Smith of Champlin, Minn., and Sydney Babb of St. Louis. She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Paul, James and Bluford Jackson. Mrs. Paxton received a masters degree from WIU. She was a field representative for the American Red Cross and had been a member of First Presbyterian Church in Sweetwater since 1950. She also was a member of the Business and Professional Womens Organization and the PEO sorority. Funeral services were Saturday, Jan. 8, at First Presbyterian Church of Macomb with Rev. Bill Brown officiating. Dodsworth-Piper-Wallen Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Burial was at St. Marys Cemetery in St. Marys.
