Harry Shinn, age 96, a resident of Care Center of Abingdon, passed away at 3:58 p.m. Wednesday, January 12, 2000 at OSF St. Mary Medical Center emergency room Galesburg, Illinois.

He was born March 1, 1903 in London Mills, Illinois, the son of Benjamin and Cora McWilliams Shinn. He married Mamie Halsey on November 13, 1922 in Galesburg, Illinois. She preceded him in death on January 29, 1987.

Survivors include his daughter-in-law, Eleanor Shinn, Abingdon; two granddaughters, Connie Poland, Abingdon and Phyllis Moyer, Glendale, Arizona; four grandchildren and two great-grandsons.

He was preceded in death by one son, Dean Shinn.

He was a farmer all of his life and farmed near Maquon and Abingdon.

Graveside services were held at the Maquon Cemetery, Maquon, Illinois on Friday, January 14, 2000.

Hinchliff-Pearson-West Chapel Abingdon, was in charge of the arrangements.

Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
