Clinton Melvin Flinner
Clinton Melvin Flinner, age 86, of 625 East Main Street, Victoria, Illinois passed away at 9:10 p.m. Friday, Jan. 21, 2000 at his home. He was born Sept. 9, 1913 in Secor, Illinois, the son of Jacob and Elizabeth Fever Flinner. He married Dorothy P. Roach on April 8, 1939 at Davenport, Iowa. She survives. Other survivors include two sons, John E. Flinner, Victoria, and George L. Flinner, Abingdon; one daughter, JoAn Woodford, Wyoming, Illinois; one sister, Barbara Bricker, Wyoming, Illinois; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, seven sisters and six brothers. He had lived in the Wyoming, Lafayette and Victoria areas all of his life. He worked at Caterpillar in Peoria for 10 years. He farmed near Lafayette and Victoria for 18 years retiring in 1979 from Victoria F.S. (Farm Service) after working there for 17 years. He was of the Methodist faith. Graveside services were held at 10:30 a.m. Monday with Rev. Marty Briney officiating followed by a memorial service at 11 a.m. at the Victoria United Methodist Church. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Chapel in Galesburg was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in Victoria Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Victoria United Methodist Church or Victoria-Copley Fire & Rescue Squad. |
