Richard M. Welch
Richard M. Welch, 64, of 305 East Monroe St., Blandinsville, died at 10:24 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 22, 2000, at McDonough District Hospital.
He was born Jan. 15, 1936, in Frederick, Wis., to Ray and Francis Siden Welch. He married Betty Wyman Jan. 9, 1971, in Kewanee. She survives.
He also is survived by a brother, Warren Welch of Big Fork, N.D.; a sister, Thelma Johnson of Cumberland, Wis.; a daughter, Mrs. Steven (Diana) Baker of New Berlin; three step-sons, Robert (Carol) Sargeant of Blandinsville and Harold (Cindy) Woollums and David Woollums, both of Jacksonville; three step-daughters, Mrs. Lanny (Sherry) Smith of Indiana, Nancy Miller of Osage Beach, Mo., and Mrs. Lenny (Carol) Goacher of Franklin; 15 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Ray Welch Jr.
Mr. Welch lived in Lincoln, Macomb and Jacksonville for eight years before moving to Blandinsville in 1997. He worked as head lineman and a supervisor for GTE for many years before his retirement in 1995.
He was a motorcycle enthusiast and a member of the National Harley Davidson Chapter, the Springfield Hog Chapter and the North American Plus 40 Motorcycle Group.
Cremation rites have been accorded. There were no services. Clugston-Tibbitts Funeral Home in Blandinsville is in charge of the arrangements.
