Wayne B. Perrine
A memorial service for Wayne B. Perrine, 85, formerly of Bushnell and Raritan, was held Monday, Jan. 24 at 11 a.m. in the Bushnell Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Robert Holler officiated.
Private burial of ashes will be held in Roseville Cemetery at a later date.
Mr. Perrine passed away Friday, Jan. 21, 2000, at noon in the home of a daughter in Charlotte, NC. Cremation was accorded. Memorials may be left to the Bushnell Rescue Squad.
A son of Clarence E. and Cecile Burke Perrine, he was born Jan. 21, 1915 in Raritan. He married Evelyn Switzer, Jan. 8, 1939, in Roseville, who died on March 9, 1972. He later married Alma King, June 22, 1973, in Bushnell, who passed away, Nov. 22, 1977.
His parents, two brothers and three sisters also preceded him death.
He leaves: a son, Van Perrine in Chicago; a daughter, Sue Smith of Charlotte, two step-daughters, Debora Kovac in Bushnell and Vicki Smith of Osterville, MA; a brother, Lawrence Perrine, Casa Grande, AZ; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Mr. Perrine was a Navy veteran of WWII as a medic, and a member of Bushnell Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 1422, for over 50 years, and the Macomb American Post. He owned and operated a general store in Raritan for many years, moving to Bushnell in 1955. There, he purchased Brewbaker-Ewan Agency until Jan. 1980. The company then merged with Wolf-Brown to become Wolf-Brown-Perrine Agency.
He was a member of the Bushnell Fire Department for 12 years and a trustee since 1968. He was also a member of: T.J. Pickett Masonic Lodge, #308, in Bushnell for more than 30 years; Mohammed Temple Shrine in Peoria; LaMoine Valley Shrine Club; and the Scottish Rite Bodies.
Mr. Perrine was also a member of: Bushnell Rotary Club for 37 years; Bushnell Golf Course since 1955; The Bushnell International Order of Odd Fellows Lodge; and attended the Bushnell Presbyterian Church, where he also served in several official capacities.
