Catherine Sherman, age 76, of Daytona Beach, Florida, formerly of Abingdon, Peoria and Delavan, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2000, at Halifax Medical Center in Daytona Beach.

Born Feb. 24, 1923, in Peoria to Neil and Laura Pankey DeYoung, she married Howard Sherman in 1946 in Abingdon. He survives.

Also surviving are one son, Tom of Morton; two daughters, Carol Stockinger of Daytona Beach and Judy Dinelli of Morris; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; three brothers, Frank DeYoung of Peoria, Neil DeYoung of Missouri and Edward DeYoung of Utah; three sisters, Ann Thacker and Margaret Bailey, both of Bartonville, and Emma Siebenthal of Peoria.

She was preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers.

She worked at Caterpillar Inc. in East Peoria and later worked as a secretary at the Donnelly Insurance Agency in Delavan.

She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star.

Cremation has been accorded by the Volusia County Cremation Society in Daytona Beach.
