Francelia R. Sweeney
Francelia R. Sweeney, 94, of Moline, formerly of Macomb, died Monday, Jan. 31, 2000, at 5:48 p.m. at Heartland Health Care Center in Moline. She was born Feb. 18, 1905, in Macomb to Clifford and Gertrude Martin Sipes. She married John Louis Sweeney April 25, 1921, in Palmyra, Mo. He died May 10, 1966. She is survived by one sister, Mary Heflin of Vermont; three daughters, Mrs. Thomas (Juanita) Miller of Rock Island, Mrs. Robert (Edith) Peck of Elkhart, Ind., and Mrs. Walt (Louise) Wynes of Milan; nine grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and several brothers and sisters. Mrs. Sweeney lived in Rock Island from 1937 to 1958. She then moved back to Macomb, where she and her husband owned and operated the Deri-ette Motel from 1958 to 1966. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church of Macomb and the Lady Moose and Rebekah Lodge in Rock Island. Funeral services were Thursday, Jan. 3, at Dodsworth-Piper-Wallen Funeral Home with Rev. Randell Whitmire officiating. Burial was in Oakwood Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Calvary Baptist Church. |
