Charles Raymond Gillette
C. Raymond Gillette, age 93, of 1056 East 5th Ave., Monmouth, Illinois, died at 6:17 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 12, 2000 at Community Medical Center, Monmouth.
He was born June 15, 1906 in Warren County, Illinois, the son of Charles E. and Jessie (Crosier) Gillette. He married Mildred F. Bullwinkle on July 16, 1928 at the Moody Bible Church in Chicago.
Surviving are his wife, Mildred of Monmouth; one son, James (Ann) Gillette of Walnut Creek, California; two daughters, Marjorie (Donald) Patterson of Horseshoe Bend, Arizona and Jeanne (Tom) Wallace of Monmouth; 13 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson along with numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sons, Richard and Jack and three brothers.
He was reared and educated in Monmouth and Galesburg.
He served in the U.S. Army from Oct. 16, 1924 to Oct. 15, 1927 with the Horse Calvary.
He was an auto mechanic and had worked for the Santa Fe Railroad and on the pipeline.
He enjoyed his family, church and reading.
He was a member of Fairview Center United Methodist Church.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Hoover-Hall Memorial Chapel, Monmouth with Rev. Janet Roy of the Fairview Center United Methodist Church officiating.
Burial was in Warren County Memorial Park Cemetery.
