Martha L. Myers
Martha L. Myers, 80, of 447 Summers Drive in Macomb, died at 4:31 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 19, 2000, at McDonough District Hospital. She was born July 18, 1919, in Sciota to Jesse and Albertie Hensley Likes. She married Byron E. Myers Sept. 13, 1937, in Macomb. He preceded her in death Feb. 12, 1973. She is survived by two sisters, Margaret Dunn of Peoria and Mary Taylor of Buffalo, Mo.; one son, Harold Myers of Macomb; two daughters, Dorothy McAdams and Norma Smith, both of Blandinsville; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Kenneth Likes; and one daughter, Janet Louise Myers, in infancy. She lived in Bushnell and the Carthage and Plymouth area before moving to Macomb. Mrs. Myers worked as a hairdresser in Bushnell for several years, and later worked as a nurses aid at Carthage Hospital, McDonough District Hospital and Elms Nursing Home in Macomb. She was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church and was active at the YMCA Senior Citizens Center in Macomb. Funeral services were held Tuesday, Feb. 22, at Clugston-Tibbitts Funeral Home, with the Rev. Stephen King officiating. Burial was in Oakwood Cemetery. Memorials may be made to a charity of the donors choice. |
