W. John Norris
W. John Norris, age 75, of Holiday, Arkansas, passed away on Tuesday evening, Feb. 15, 2000 at his home in Arkansas.
He was born Nov. 25, 1924 in Galesburg, Illinois, the son of Wilton Edward and Grace Davis Norris. He married Nancy Goodsell on Feb. 1, 1953 in Canton. She survives.
Other survivors include five sons, John Minor Norris, Rockbridge; Steven Edward Norris, El Cajon, Calif.; Timothy Paul Norris, St. Louis, Mo.; William Matthew Arthur Norris, Medora and James Christopher Anthony Norris, San Diego, Calif.; one brother Fredrick A. Norris, Galesburg; one sister, Margaret Sauter, Galesburg; and 17 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He graduated from Galesburg High School. He spent most of his life in Illinois where he farmed and raised livestock in the Rockbridge area.
He had lived in California for five years and in Holiday Island, Arkansas the past nine months.
He served in the Army Air Corp during World War II.
Graveside services were held at the Abingdon Cemetery at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb.19, 2000 with Rev. Jim Clay officiating.
Hinchliff-Pearson-West Chapel in Abingdon was in charge of the arrangements.
