Opal Buneda Spring

Opal Buneda Spring, 84, of 1200 E. Grant St., Macomb, died Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2000, at 5:50 p.m. at Wesley Village Health Care Center.

She was born Oct. 31, 1915, in Oney, Okla., to James Edward and Emma Jane Ross Riddle.

She married George Wendell Spring Sept. 1, 1934. He died Dec. 14, 1995.

She is survived by two daughters, G. June (Eldon) Myers of Industry and Sheila Strassburger of Clearwater, Fla.; two grandchildren, Rick (Sally) Myers of Caledonia and Michelle (Roger) Barclay of Macomb; one great-grandson; two great-granddaughters; and two step-great-granddaughters.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Cora Ebey and Mamie Couch.

Mrs. Spring sold real estate and worked for Sterling Simpson Insurance Agency for over 30 years.

She was a member of the BPOE Deers, Women’s International Bowling Congress and Wesley United Methodist Church. She enjoyed cooking, bowling, gardening, sewing and traveling.

Services were Friday, Feb. 25, at Dodsworth-Piper-Wallen Funeral Home, with the Rev. Mark Myers officiating. Burial was in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.

Memorials may be made to McDonough District Hospital’s Hospice Program or Wesley United Methodist Church.
